HOW TO REVAMP AN OLD TEE SHIRT

turning old into new again

Many people when getting ready stand and stare at their closet wondering why they have nothing new and fresh to wear even though their closet is full of clothes. Instead of spending money on a new overpriced distressed tee, simply find one in your closet you don't mind cutting up and DIY it for half the price!

Here are my easy steps to create a revamped tee!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

1. Scissors or Knife
2. Bleach
3. Tiny Spray Bottle
4. Sand Paper (fine grit)
5. Piece of Cardboard
6. Salt and Bowl of Water

Approximate Time: 1 1/2 hours

LETS BEGIN

STEP ONE: Place cardboard between layers of tee shirt, take the sand paper and lightly distress the areas you want destruction.

STEP TWO: Once tee shirt is thinned to desirability, take scissors or knife and make short strides across the fabric until holes start to form (doing it like so will make them look more natural and less like you cut them on purpose).

STEP THREE: Fill small spray bottle with 1/3 bleach and 2/3 water. Hold spray bottle several inches away and gentle mist the shirt to create a lighter more worn appearance. To create bigger bleach stain simple untwist the spray bottle cap and fling bleach onto the shirt from the long tube connected to the cap to make a more messier look. FYI: work quickly with this step because the bleach will quickly turn.
(Skip this step if tee is already white)

STEP FOUR: Soak tee in a bowl of salt water to help the tee become soft and not brittle due to the sandpaper and bleaching process. Let sit for 30 minutes to an hour.

STEP FIVE: Throw in washer with a few white towels on COLD. Use the gentle/hand wash setting to make sure none of the holes or distressed marks become larger or more torn. Dry on delicate and VIOLA your newly distressed tee shirt is done and ready to wear out!
