I don’t know if you’ve heard, but the 70’s are back. Everyone is out there shopping for flare jeans, button-down miniskirts, and destructed band tees. But sometimes, the best way to pull off a vintage-inspired look is by wearing actual vintage clothing!

Vintage Shift Dress

My friend Grace was kind enough to be my model for the day and was super excited about this idea because she loves the 70’s styles (ok, but who doesn’t?)! The first outfit incorporates basic, modern pieces to give this dress a second life. I paired the plaid shift dress with over-the-knee black boots and a pearl necklace, which help the dress stay the main focus.

Vintage Velvet Skirt

The second outfit is the perfect example of how to wear the mini skirt trend that we’ve seen everywhere. Instead of having buttons straight down the front, this vintage skirt has them on the sides which I think adds more interest to the outfit. I paired it with a striped crop top, embroidered heels, chunky gold necklace, and some cute sunnies. All these items together create the perfect mix of a vintage-modern outfit!

Finding vintage clothing is a breeze! There are so many different websites and shops where you can find what you're looking for, but my personal favorite is at garage sales. The pieces found there are sometimes more unique and often cheaper. And not only is it trendy to wear older clothing, but it's good for the environment. So instead of finding your new favorite outfit at the mall, try vintage out for a change!
