Saving Lives One Bra at a Time

ArtBraKC students

Bra Couture K.C. is a fashion show put on every year to help spread the awareness of breast cancer. Art bra donations are accepted and auctioned off at the show. The proceeds go to help uninsured and under insured breast cancer patients. All donated bras, that are selected by a panel of judges, are modeled by surviving breast cancer patients in the show. UCM students and staff were asked to join the cause in 2014. From then on a number of students have made and donated art bras (myself included).

Accomplishments of Bra Couture KC

In just six years Bra Couture K.C. has raised over $980,000 for uninsured and under insured breast cancer patients

  • Bra Couture K.C. Art walk- features 50 plus art bra's that are available for silent auction
  • The fashion show- features "top 16" bra designs live on the runway, and are auctioned live as well
  • Silent Auction- More than 40 donated art bra's are made available for auction
  • School spirit- Bra Couture K.C. has an "auction off" between area rivals such as K.U. and M.U.

I am a Junior Fashion Major at the University of Central Missouri and for two years now I have created and donated an art bra for Bra Couture K.C. I love this event and am proud to be a part of the fun. It means a lot to me personally to be able to help breast cancer patients. My grandma is a survivor of breast cancer.  This event is an amazing thing and is great experience for aspiring designers like myself. Featured above are images of my 2016 and 2017 designs.
