It’s the year 2021 and thrifting has taken over the fashion community. I have five tips that will help you find the best fashion pieces at your local thrift store! Continue reading to find out five great tips next time you’re wanting to spice up your wardrobe by thrift shopping!

#1 Shop the Intimate Apparel Section

I know this may sound odd at first, but you can find the best slip dresses and vintage corsets in the intimate or pajamas section! Anything lace or satin have become super popular in the fashion community. You can find great satin or bustier tops! I found this vintage satin slip dress in the intimate section at The Change Jar in Warrensburg for only $10!

#2 Shop the Business Attire Section

Blazers and business jackets have become a huge hit in the past year. You can dress them up or down by styling them with either jeans, dresses, or skirts! Business pants have also become more trendy in the past year. You can find great pieces for cheap if you shop in the business attire section. It also doubles as a great staple piece for interviews. I found an oversized white button up shirt at Goodwill for only $4! It is great for layering especially at the beach.

#3 Shop The Men's Section

A common thrifting tip is to always look in the men’s section! I have found so many vintage flannels or oversized graphic tees in the men's section. Men’s apparel usually provide more options when wanting to put together a street wear outfit. I found an oversized jean jacket in the men's section for only $12! Coats and jackets are great for layering especially in the colder months.

Jeans

Boyfriend or mom jeans have become the new trend sensation over the past couple of years. The best place to find good quality, vintage looking jeans are right at your local thrift store. Always check out the men and women’s section when you want a new pair of baggy jeans. Decals on jeans have also become very trendy. You can also easily DIY them by cutting rips in the knees or pockets.

#4 Shop the Handbag Section

I feel like a lot of people tend to forget to look at the accessories at thrift stores. Accessories have become a common staple in most people's wardrobes. A simple hat or handbag can elevate an outfit completely. You can find great bags for the beach or for a night out to compliment your outfit! Hats and scarves are also a great essential to dress up or down your outfit.

#5 Shop the Shoe Section

Shopping the shoe section may look intimidating at first because there are so many different styles in different sizes. But, small heeled sandals have made a comeback along with heeled knee high boots. You can find great vintage kitten heels for cheap that you can wear to weddings or a night out. Shoes can be a hit or miss, but always give it a try because you’ll never know what you could miss!
