How to Style Mom Jeans in Multiple Ways

By: Emily Allen

One piece of clothing that we can say now has been trending for well over a year is the iconic mom jeans. No, not just moms can wear these jeans. Also, why did we even started calling them mom jeans? Mom jeans is a slang term for high-waisted women's jeans that were originally fashionable in the late 1980's and early 1990's (Think of the iconic Jennifer Aniston in Friends). It's funny how the tables turned over the years, when us young people used to think that these were 'unhip' and 'not trendy.' Now, they are the style of jeans that I grab instantly when going to my closet!

Here are some different ways to style mom jeans from grundge to chic!

Outfit 1

My go-to when running errands is pairing mom jeans with a neutral color tee shirt and adding chunky boots with the outfit. I added a pair of bulky gold earrings and necklaces so that you get some statement pieces mixed in there, along with a big bag.

Outfit 2

Look fashionable and chic while taking on the town! This is one of my favorite outfits, while at the same time you're keeping up with the trends. This puffy sleeve shirt is an iconic piece. Pair it with white mule heels to keep a neutral theme going, along with a black bag and gold accessories. A high pony or low bun would be a good hairstyle with this outfit.

Outfit 3

Go more on the casual side with this fun muscle tank graphic tee. Pair it with some mid Nike Air Forces, and never say no to accessories! This is a great outfit to be casual and comfy in, but still fashionable. I chose to pick a shoulder bag with this outfit.

Outfit 4

A great way to style mom jeans, in colder weather is with a turtleneck and a teddy coat. I chose neutral colors because it is easier to match items. Pair it with a black statement piece hat, and a cross body bag. You can tuck your jeans into the boots, so that they are showing. I kept the accessories minimal in this outfit, because it's all bulkier material.
